Cemetery Flower Policy

WCS Properties, Inc., has both the obligation and duty to preserve the beauty and appearance of the cemetery for all lot owners and their families.  The following information lays out our policies regarding flowers and the allowed placement of items on gravesites.

Funeral Flowers placed at Burial:

Flowers placed at the grave on the day of burial will be removed by our grounds crew after 3 days in order to complete the closing of the grave. Please take any flowers you wish to keep home with you on the day of the service.  Live flowers are not permitted inside the mausoleum except during a service. After the service has ended, the flowers will be placed outside the front of the mausoleum and discarded after 3 days.

Temporary Markers:

As a tribute to your loved one, we will place a temporary marker on the grave for approximately 60 days following the burial to give families time to place an order for a permanent memorial.  In-house design services for bronze markers, granite monuments, and benches are offered in our cemetery offices.  If the memorial is ordered within 60 days following interment by us, the temporary marker will remain until the permanent marker arrives.

Flower Vases:

Fresh or artificial flowers may be placed in approved cemetery vases. Please place the flowers securely inside the vase to prevent them from blowing away. Temporary vases are permitted for up to 60 days following interment, giving families time to order a permanent marker and vase. Faded flowers will be discarded to maintain the beauty of the grounds.  A beautiful assortment of Stay-in-the-vase flowers are available for purchase in our offices. Potting soil and rooted plants are NOT allowed in the vases.  However, potted plants and baskets may be placed on the marker for Easter, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day, but we ask that they be removed within 3 days of the holiday.  Trinkets, solar lights, balloons, and other small items are permitted inside the vases ONLY.  Anything placed on or around the memorial will be removed by our grounds crew.

Christmas Items:

Christmas bouquets, wreaths, and decorations will be removed by our grounds crew after February 1 of each year to maintain the beauty of our grounds.  Please pick up any Christmas decorations you wish to reuse prior to Feb. 1.

Prayer Niches:

In order to maintain a clean and welcoming space for our guests, we are unable to allow flowers to be placed at the Prayer Niches. Any flowers placed at the niches at the time of innichement will be discarded 3 days after the service.  Nothing is allowed on, between, or around the niches and will be removed.  Windchimes are strictly prohibited in the courtyard of the prayer niches.

WCS Properties, Inc. is not responsible for any missing flowers or items. If an item that is not permitted is placed at a grave, we reserve the right to remove the item for the safety and security of our staff and guests. Flowers that have blown out of the vases will be discarded. We appreciate your help in making our cemeteries a safe and beautiful environment for everyone to visit.
